I would like to congratulate The TES on the article about leadership in sports colleges (“The winning streak”, TES Magazine, August 13). As one of the school leaders featured in your article I would, however, like to put the record straight: despite being a fitness instructor in my spare time I am not a PE teacher. My background in schools is teaching English and drama. This combination has, I believe, made me an effective director of specialism and has enabled me, in partnership with the PE department, to position sport at the heart of the school.
