For the uninitiated, it’s easy to feel lost, isolated and increasingly ill-equipped for the jobs market. The situation is particularly acute for the generations educated without computers - as they see their youngsters grapple successfully with the technology.

ow someone has come up with a bright idea. Why not involve children in teaching their parents? On Tyneside, it’s caught on, with teachers, parents and children attending after-school sessions. As one mother says: “I prefer to be taught by my kids rather than an adult - it’s less intimdating.” (See page 9)
