The High Court has ruled that the Department for Education and Skills does not have to pay interest on unclaimed pensions. Mr Justice Peter Smith overturned a ruling by the pension ombudsman that the executors of the will of the late Hilda Dann, formerly of Thomas Peacock school, Rye, were entitled to interest. The DfES would have been liable to pay millions of pounds to others in similar situations if it had lost the case.
