Professor Graham Zellick, principal and deputy vice-chancellor of Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, has been appointed vice-chancellor of the University of London for a three-year term. He succeeds Professor Andrew Rutherford, who retires on August 31, 1997.

Joyce Deere, formerly vice principal of Hillcroft College, Surrey, took over from Mike Rowe as principal of the Royal National Institute for the Blind’s further education college in Redhill earlier this term.

Lord Eatwell, fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, has been elected president of Queens’ College, Cambridge, from January 1997. He succeeds the Reverend Dr John Polkinghorne, who is retiring in September.

John Murray, formerly deputy chief executive of West London Training and Enterprise Council, has been appointed an associate director of human resource consultancy, TDA Consulting Limited.

Peter Thomson, formerly head of Emanuel School, Wandsworth, London SW11, has been appointed head of The Harrodian School, London SW13, from September.

Nadia Al Touqui, a secretarial and administration tutor at the National Training Institute in Oman, has become the only Omani national to be fully qualified as an approved assessor and internal verifier for National Vocational Qualifications.

Elizabeth Morgan, a senior teacher at Whitleigh Primary School, Plymouth, is to be head of a new pre-prep department at Mount House School, Tavistock, Devon, which opens in September.
