Christine Davies, who currently manages Shropshire’s advisory and children’s services, will become corporate director for education at Wrekin Council, Telford, on June 1.Olivia McQuillan became head of d’Hautree School, St Saviour, Jersey, last term replacing Michael Capey who has retired.

David Taylor, chief executive of Lancashire Enterprises plc, is to be chair of the North-west’s new Film Commission. He will be joined on the board by vice-chairs: Andrea Wonfor, joint managing director, Granada Productions; Professor Phil Redmond, chairman of Mersey Television; Gerald Kaufman, chairman of Mersey Television; and Keith Thompson, executive producer of Diplomat Films.Rebecca Chance (16), David Goodenough (16) and Paul House (15) of Queen’s College, Taunton, are this year’s winners of the Geographical Association’s annual Worldwise Quiz.
