Malcolm Charnley, vice-principal of Swansea College, will become principal and chief executive of Fareham College, Hampshire, on April 1. He replaces Dr Richard Parker, who has been appointed principal of Chichester College.

Keith Bate, vice-principal of Halesowen College, Birmingham, will replace Dr Stephen Griffiths as principal of the college from April 1.

Paul Ennals, director of education and employment at the Royal National Institute for the Blind, will become executive director of the National Children’s Bureau in August on the retirement of John Rea Price.

Geoffrey Ellis, head of Bishop David Brown School, Woking, Surrey, becomes head of Longhill Secondary School, Rottingdean, Sussex, on April 20.

Margaret Poland, a field commissioner at the Scout Association, has been appointed as the SA’s first full-time national child protection co-ordinator. She will be based at Baden-Powell House, Queen’s Gate, London SW7.
