Fiona Chesterton, formerly Channel 4‘s commissioning editor for daytime programmes, has replaced Glenwyn Benson as head of commissioning for adult education at the BBC. Ms Benson is now head of science at the BBC.

Christine Braddock, deputy principal of Dudley College, has been appointed principal of Matthew Boulton College, Birmingham, from April 1, following the retirement of Tony Colton.

The Sir Misha Black Medal for distinguished services to design education has been awarded to William H Walsh for his contribution in establishing the design and craft movement in Ireland.
