Claims that England has been plummeting down the OECD Pisa rankings for science, literacy and maths cannot be justified, according to Dr John Jerrim, of London University’s Institute of Education. He says England’s performance is also influenced by the difference between the two samples of pupils, a change in when the tests were taken and more countries taking part.
