THE morning-after pill is being made available free in chemists in a pilot scheme in the Manchester area that could go nationwide.

Sixteen pharmacists in Manchester, Salford and Trafford, where there is a high rate of teenage pregnancy are in the scheme. A woman requesting the pill is taken to a private area and asked questions based on those used at family planning clinics.

Reports compiled by Diane Spencer with the help of the National Children’s Bureau
