Old and new buildings are equally important in Engaging Places, a booklet containing case studies showing ways in which buildings have been used in educational projects. Each project is described and illustrated with comments from children and teachers and summaries of lessons and follow-up work. We see how pupils’ interest is engaged - planning a perfect football pitch, sharing investigations with architecture students, following urban design trails or using open days to explore what are normally private spaces. Its available from CABE Education, 11 York Road, London SE1 7NX.
