Reality and cyber-reality meet in the game Food Force - a powerful computer simulation of the United Nation’s World Food Programme.

Players join an international team, including a Brazilian pilot, a Nigerian purchasing director and an Irish appeals officer, to bring food to the population of a crisis-struck island in the Indian Ocean. Decisions have to be taken and missions accomplished - including carrying out air surveillance, determining whether to drop food packs or organise convoys.

Points scored along the way can be matched against a world community of players and the game compared to the UN’s actual work. Food Force includes online teacher support. www.food-force.com
