More than 700,000 mobile phones were stolen last year, many of them by teenagers from other teenagers. Out of Your Hands is a project aimed at altering attitudes that allow the crimes to happen. A free interactive CD-Rom contains video stories of thieves, buyers and victims. It suggests relevant kinds of role-play and analysis of the social factors involved, as well as promoting advice on street safety and new “blocking” technology.

There is also an informative poster about a competition in which KS3 pupils have to design a stylish new mobile that’s safe to use. Order forms for Out of Your Hands have been sent to secondary schools.
