* I am pleased The TES feels that it could get to like me (Diary, September 19). However, I would not want this outbreak of warm feelings to founder on the rock of misconceptions. My article for the Morning Star, printed during the week of the TUC, called for a revolution only in the Government’s approach to education policy. I argued that the micro-management of the education system is resulting in an exodus from the profession as teachers are weighed down by initiatives dreamt up by those who have never taught.
