* Thank you for your incisive leader ("Auditors rewrite the leagues tables" TES, November 28) on the National Audit Office's verdict on league tables.

You note that "one in 10 of the bottom 20 per cent in 2002 should in fact have been rated among the top 20 per cent of schools for effectiveness in GCSE".

It would appear that the Ofsted watchdogs have been barking up the wrong trees! Perhaps they could be returned to their kennels to reflect on their use of this data to denigrate teachers and schools. How the tables have turned!
