* John Cattermole found life in a “normal job” outside teaching just didn’t compare (TES, January 2). Since it would seem he did the bare minimum to justify his paypacket I can’t say I’m surprised he found it unrewarding.

Try the same approach in a school, and I suspect you’d get the same feeling. Yes, jobs such as that do exist, or people make them so. But “normal”. I think not!
