I have been reading about how many teachers lose their voice.

I have been off work for three months after losing my voice following an infection.

Through speech therapy, I am now beginning to get it back. But I now realise that I have not been using my voice correctly in four years of teaching. After talks with the therapist I wonder why speech lessons are not part of teacher training. Your voice is your most important tool, but we are never taught how to use it or care for it.
