We spend all our time helping children to see what a useful tool the computer is, but when teachers need to apply for a new job every authority has a slightly different application form. You download the form from the internet and then fill it in by hand. What a waste of time!

Surely it would be possible to devise a national application form that could be downloaded by teachers. Details of courses, responsibilities, new jobs etc. could be added as they happened.

Then when you needed to apply for a job, you could check details were relevant and up to date, then print off your application. Seems simple, so what’s the problem?
