* Jim Abraham’s potential resignation after some bizarre comments on his leadership style reminds us that quality assurance from the Office for Standards in Education may once again need the new chief inspector’s attention.

Perhaps he could respond to Mr Abraham’s potently relevant point about the clash between his own, considered approach to leadership and that expected by inspectors. Once again we see the sheer folly of attempting to provide a cloned calibre of school leadership, clear on paper but quite irrelevant to the realities of human personalities. But then, what’s that got to do with “standards”?
