Poison-pen letters

Campaigners receive more hate mail for sticking up for children's rights than they do for defending terrorists' rights, said Shami Chakrabati, director of Liberty.

She told a Citizenship Foundation lecture this week that her organisation had received a flood of angry mail after publicly criticising Asbos and child curfews.

"For some reason there is an idea that children having rights is scary and dangerous," she said.
