Seven teachers in Edinburgh have received the council’s first certificates in enhancing classroom practice. They have completed an 18-month pilot of the innovative course for teachers in nursery, primary, secondary and special schools.

The course can be completed in one-and-a-half to two years and requires full attendance throughout parts 1 and 2 and the submission of two assessments and a portfolio of evidence. There are 95 teachers who have now finished the first part and 45 who have done the second.

The programme also offers participants the prospect of building their capacity and confidence as potential trainers to deliver aspects of the course in future.
