Burghes would like to see more practical courses with problems genuinely related to real life. Brown advocates the need for skills ideally “embedded” in other subjects to survive as an adult.
They both obviously love and care about the subject and seem perfectly capable of creating the improvements required as I am sure many other educators would be. Perhaps the real problem lies in the fact that, yet again, education is being politically driven. As a solution I would like to advocate an independent “Bank of Education” to run the schools system. I am going to lie down in a dark room to think of some exciting members!
