CALLING Poppy Thomas: your old music teacher says thanks for the postcard and why don’t you give him a ring?

The Diary doesn’t usually pass on personal messages, but there’s a tale to this one. John Beaty, of County Durham, has just received the card that Poppy sent him from her holiday in North Wales - 13 years ago.

Poppy sounds a bit of a creep - who else would write to their teacher while on holiday? - but John recalls her as a “lovely girl - bright, very intelligent, blonde hair in a ponytail; she would have been 11 or 12 when I taught her the organ”.
