Post-16 grants come through

Tens of thousands of post-16 students have successfully applied for grants to help them continue with their studies. The latest government figures show that, by the end of December, 27,030 applications had been received for education maintenance allowances, worth pound;10, pound;20 or pound;30 a week, depending on family income. Of these, 23,080 have been approved and 740 rejected.
