TWO of our primary teachers have recently been summoned for jury service this term. The fact that they are teachers counts and has helped postpone their service until the spring holiday but the coincidence for this school would have been irrelevant, apparenly.

Jury service is an important responsibility but is it fair to penalise the teacher’s holiday or the school term-time routine?
