REGARDING poor take-up of further maths, a Department for Education and Employment spokesman says there is no conflict between depth and breadth (TES, May 12).

This is surely a discovery worth geater attention. If there is no conflict, vast sums of money could be paid to vast numbers of people (including teachers) without breaking the bank.
