TODAY I had the thrill of enduring an in-service training day on performance-related pay. I thought I’d share my thoughts with your readers in the form of a poem.
“Education, education, education!!”
Meeting the standard is not for me,
‘Cos I’m on a lowly pay-point three.
It makes me want to cream and shout
‘Cos what I’ve trained for counts for nowt
I wonder why I’m sitting here
While others’ heads are filled with fear.
It’s another six years until I reach
Fair pay for what I already teach . . .
