I AGREE with Libby Purves (TES July 16) that BBC 1‘s Hope and Glory is first-rate. It has drama, humour, realism and credible characters. The message I get from the series is not that some teachers are better than others, but that Ian George (played by Lenny Henry), like many heads, has to weld a diverse group of imperfect individuals, into a successful, cooperating entity.
