National management conference faces up to the realities of the McCrone shake-up

The former boss at the Cruachan Power Station has turned his energies to easing the admin burdens of Currie High in Edinburgh.

Phill Pache (left), one of 23 business managers the city has installed in each of its secondaries under the post-McCrone deal, is quickly learning about the unpredictabilities of school life.

In primaries, 49 new managers are in post, splitting their time between two schools. Interest was strong and Mr Pache was one of more than 65 applicants for the Currie post.

Eric Melvin, the school’s head (right), said the new manager is already making an impact on health and safety, facilities management and monitoring building contractors. “He has contributed significant added value.”
