Praise due but not received

Regarding the brief published in last week’s TESS (8 April), entitled “UCU praise Langside method”, Langside College wishes to set the record straight.

The college would, without doubt, welcome praise from the University and College Union and feel that this praise would be well deserved. However, it has not received such praise from UCU.

At Langside, the college leadership works in close partnership with EISFELA and Unison to implement a positive approach which endeavours to protect all provision and posts within the college. This strategy is called “Protect and survive”.

The piece in TESS related to a statement made publicly at the board of management by the EISFELA branch.

Catherine Taylor, head of faculty: community and business development, Langside College, Glasgow.
