The work by 60 P6-P7 pupils over the last four months was part of an Arts Across the Curriculum project - a Scottish Arts Council initiative aimed at raising attainment and achievement in curricular studies through placing artists in the classroom to support the class teacher.

The P6 and P7 pupils in Boghall have been working with artists from Framed Arts and Media Education to complement their work on the 5-14 guidelines for citizenship and used the Theresa Breslin novel Divided City as stimulus.

The film will be premiered on February 27, 2007, at the Regal Theatre in Bathgate, West Lothian at 10am and the children’s author will be there to read from Divided City and answer questions.

“Throughout the duration of this project we have been astounded by the maturity and depth of understanding of the issues demonstrated by the young people involved, while also disheartened to realise that many participants are being influenced by parental prejudices.”
