Premature report of Manx’s death

I note from a recent TES that your Professor Wragg writes that the Manx (Gaelic) language is dead. I imagine this was a humorous comment. Certainly it is not factual! Manx Gaelic is enjoying a resurgence of interest and use.

The Isle of Man department of education is committed to teaching Manx Gaelic and developing a curriculum which incorporates our nation’s history and culture. These are exciting and welcome developments and reflect the confidence and positive national identify of the Manx government, education department and - most importantly - the Manx people!
