Your article by David Marley (“Double trouble for private schools”, TES, November 14) was unduly pessimistic.
As headteacher of a 190-pupil prep school and chairman-elect of the Independent Association of Prep Schools, I am well aware that smaller schools are facing challenging times.
But our schools are remarkably adaptable and resilient. Supported by governors and the association, many heads will lead their schools with great enthusiasm and entrepreneurial skills that will weather the storms ahead.
Don’t underestimate the leaders of schools acknowledged to be world class.
