Primaries miss big picture on history

History is "generally a popular and successfully taught subject", but primary school pupils are struggling to grasp the overall picture, according to Ofsted. A report published this week found primary pupils failed to relate their knowledge to a "long-term narrative", attributing the problem to the structure of the curriculum and teachers having inadequate subject knowledge.
