The news that the primary curriculum is to be reviewed is most welcome. I have two fears. One is that any reconstruction will be shaped still by the demands of the testing and inspection systems.
The other is that whoever happens to be Secretary of State for Education at the time will want too great a say and insist on the retention of arbitrary chunks of subject knowledge to be transmitted to pupils.
My hope would be for PSCHE to be at the heart of any revision, and for the other foundation stage areas of learning to be extended to the end of key stage 2.
