News of his departure comes after the resolution of a dispute between management at Stourbridge and NATFHE, the college lecturers’ union. The union protested last September when Mr Toeman threatened to sack 21 lecturing staff unless they signed new employment contracts. They eventually agreed a compromise collective agreement.
In a letter to staff Mr Toeman said he had overseen changes to the college to prepare it for the next century and had made himself “surplus to requirements”.
