Who needs Friends Reunited when you’re part of the global Accies family? We refer, of course, to the Edinburgh Academy worldwide fan club.

The latest edition of the Academical journal includes a message from California from one David Jenkins, sometime athletics hero and an Accie from 1961-70, who is clearly one of the school’s high achievers - “started a protein supplement business in ‘86 at the end of my descent into steroid trafficking and prior to my stint(s) in prison”.

We’re glad to see there is no censorship of unwelcome news at the Academical.
