Thankyou for the interesting and informative feature on David Waugh (TES, May 16).

My courses make a lot of reference to David’s books, since students need to be familiar with the texts they will be expected to use in schools when on placement.

I wonder if you could possibly conclude a long-running battle I have with my students by printing a phonetic pronunciation of David’s last name?

I’m sure there are a lot of teachers of geography who mispronounce David’s name, otherwise I wouldn’t have had such a battle of wits with my cohorts to try to re-educate them!

David Waugh’s surname is prononounced “Woff” (to rhyme with “toff”).
