Sixth-form supporters were today due to protest against the post-16 funding agency ELWa at the Urdd Eisteddfod on Anglesey. Protesters from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (the Welsh Language Society) and Welsh medium schools in Gwynedd and Anglesey are against the agency deciding the fate of sixth forms.

Dafydd Morgan Lewis, speaking on behalf of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, said: “It is vital that we recognise the important contribution that the sixth form makes to our schools and communities. We don’t want to see unrepresentative and undemocratic quangos such as ELWa making decisions about our sixth forms.”
