Proud to be a geographer

I am puzzled at the rather odd comments expressed in the Opinion piece on geography.

I still, after 20 years of secondary headship, think of myself as a geographer, committed to the subject because it helps children to understand interdependence at every level.

Geography without content is like any subject without content - you need the combination of skills and content to understand the concepts.

To say that David Lambert and the Geographical Association want "less geographical content" is to misunderstand its standpoint - that "what" should not swamp where, how and why! I am proud to be a geographer and proud of the GA, which works tirelessly to help non-specialists, especially in primary schools.
