The British Psychological Society has developed standards for educational testing to promote best practice in tests used by psychologists and non-psychologists alike.

The society is proposing to offer a new qualification, the Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing, and wants to hear from special educational needs co-ordinators and other teachers.

The new certificate would, says the society, help users select the most appropriate tests, interpret the findings and report the results. Chartered psychologists could offer schools accredited training courses of around three to five days.
