Pupil alarms to be worn

Pupils at a Devon secondary school are to be issued with personal alarms during school outings.

Tavistock College has ordered its pupils to carry the alarms on school excursions which involve more than one night away from the school.

The move was prompted by increased concern for pupil safety following the rape and murder of local schoolgirl Caroline Dickinson while on a trip to France during the summer.
