The rapid adoption and development of digital photography by the likes of Kodak, Fuji, Epson and Nikon has resulted in a huge choice of digicams and this, coupled with sophisticated, inexpensive photo-editing software and faster, cheaper hardware - inkjet printers, scanners, computers - has let schools enjoy the benefits of digitisation.

Educational suppliers suc as RM and Xemplar and specialist digital camera retailers such as Jessops will be able to offer the undecided purchaser a variety of options. If, on the other hand, you know what you want to buy it’s worth visiting the specialist digicam sites. UK sites are not necessarily cheaper for cameras and peripherals but US cyberstores unfailingly have good deals.
