Pupils compose songs of praise

BELLOWING out catchy numbers like All things bright and beautiful and Morning has broken in assembly has been the highlight of many a school career. But youngsters are now being invited to come up with a new repertoire of songs in a competition run by the BBC and the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge Open to primary and middle school pupils, the challenge is to write the words of a new school assembly song, to fit either an existing tune or a tune composed by entrants. Winners will have their song featured on the BBC Together radio programme. For more information visit
