Tests on nursery and reception class pupils at the latest school to be hit by deadly E.coli could reveal more cases, First Minister Rhodri Morgan warned this week. However, as TES Cymru went to press, nearly half the 43 children told to stay home from St Illtyd’s primary school in Merthyr Tydfil had been cleared in tests for the bug. Four members of the same family had tested positive for the 0157 strain, and the school was closed after a three-year-old boy and his 11-month-old sibling fell sick last week.
