Pupils told to stay at home

A PRIMARY school in David Blunkett’s constituency has told pupils to stay at home today because of a teacher shortage. Southey Green junior school has written to parents of 60 pupils and asked them not to send their children. Two teacers are off sick and there are virtually no supply teachers available in Sheffield. The problems in the Education Secretary’s backyard come a month after headteachers’ leaders warned of a “meltdown” over teacher shortages.
