As a well-seasoned TES reader, I have become used to all manner of unusual photographs. However, much as I can appreciate my colleagues’ concern at the latest proposals from the Department for Education and Skills for the introduction of “merit pay”, I fail to see how our feelings can be reflected in the front-page photograph of a teacher sitting on top of a piano with her shoes depressing the keys! The caption says “laughing it off........” Really!
