Your report about the excluded pupil, Richard Wilding, (TES, 26 April) says that the appeals committee is independent.
Is it elected? If so, are we permitted to know who votes it into office?
Is it appointed? If so, are we permitted to learn who chooses its members?
I assume that its members deliberated on the matter of the exclusion before reaching their decision. Are we permitted to know by what criteria they decided to overrule the staff, the head, the governors and the local education authority?
Were minutes taken of the meeting and will these be made available to taxpayers?
