It’s good to see MSPs are not taking the issue of the physical fitness of the population lying down.

During exchanges sparked by the Independent Margo MacDonald (soon to become as well-known for her lobbying to recruit more PE teachers as she is for her campaigns on the new Parliament building and prostitution zones), Labour’s Karen Gillon urged the Executive to do more to find more PE teachers instead of “sitting back and resting on its laurels”.

Jim Wallace, who looks after higher education, replied: “With physical activity, the issue is not about sitting back.” Quite.
