Racism at a third of primaries

A third of Fife’s primary schools reported racist incidents during the period August 1996-December 1997. One in eight secondaries also reported incidents. The majority of primaries reported one or two incidents, mostly name-calling and generally offensive comment. The council comments that schools reporting a number of racist incidents may simply have more sensitive staff or follow procedures more strictly, rather than being more prone to racism.
