A pressure group is calling on the Government to guarantee a radio network devoted to programming for primary children.
Ofcom, the broadcast regulator, is to announce a third national digital multiplex this year, allowing for eight to 10 new networks. The National Campaign for Children’s Radio has called for at least one to be devoted to primary children, highlighting the fact that UK law protects children’s television, but not radio. Susan Stranks, the campaign co-ordinator, said radio encourages listening, concentration and imagination.
